I recently bought a 95 4wd country jeep Cherokee with 147 on the dash. Every time I start it wont start right away it usually takes until the second time to get it going. There is a small miss when idling. you would have to listen to it to see it. when it idles it goes between 3 and 7 thousand rpm. While driving no misses and it performs just fine. Am I just thinking about it to hard? Changed the oil and radiator fluid. Changing spark plug wires tomorrow to try to fix miss. Any suggestions
Like any other problem with an xj it could be many things. Start with the free stuff, test your battery at the auto parts store and give all your vacuum lines a look over as well as your battery terminals. Then move onto sensors like the IAC, MAP, and TPS. Then there's always the fuel filter.
When you do the plugs change the cap and rotor too.
Beyond my experience for the miss.

Welcome to the board much to be learned here.
I hope you mean 3-7 "Hundred" RPM's not thousand rpm's.
When you change the plugs and wires be sure to do the cap and rotor also and if it were mine I would replace the coil but that's just me. When you changed the antifreeze did you flush the engine/ with the heater core open and replace the thermostat and housing when you did? If not you should have done it, the thermostat housings are cheap and can be a problem might as well replace at same time.
Most all here will tell you to replace the entire cooling system on these older XJ's and its good advice and cheap to do. New radiator, water pump, fan clutch, hoses (radiator and heater) along with what was done.

You need to gap them all to .35, autozone has a little gap tool. It's only about 2 dollars if they don't just give it to you.
