87 cherokee, It cranks but wont start! Put a new fuel pump in. It had fuel coming up to the rail at 31psi, but still wouldn't start. Now a couple weeks later theres no power to the pump and no fuel at the rail. Is there an emergancy shut off switch if so where will it be located.

It seems to have spark as I got zapped during one check. Pulled a plug wire and it sparked though a screw driver. also checked at the coil. Other than that thats as far as I have gotten with this thing.

The jeep was given to me from a friend of the family who was tired of messing with it. It hasnt run in 10 years. Im trying to find all the relays and fuses and fuseible links but havent found any good diagrams.

Did some searching and reading on this and other forums and Im going to try the cps and see if it does anything once I figure the power to the pump issue.

Just trying to get this damn thing running so I can either sell it or use it as my winter cruise/offroading mobile.

I would go to your local autoparts store and purchase a Haynes Manual or Chiltons Manual. That should get you on the right track.

 

Sounds to me like the CPS would be a good start..

 

I walked out yesterday to go to the lake with my dog and had the same problem. Ended up being the starter was week and the clutch that moves the little gear to the flywheel was week. If you have the time and desire, pull it and take it to parts store, they should be able to run a test.
