Hi everyone, I have a quick question for anyone willing to help me out. I have a '96 Jeep Cherokee, and this morning it wouldn't start. The starter clicks once and does nothing. I figured the battery was probably dead, so this afternoon when I came home, I hooked up a portable battery jumper. But now, every time I try to start it, it clicks and I lose all power for about a minute or so. This jumper I have should be able to start the car on its own power alone, so I'm stumped as to what the problem may be. Anyone have any ideas?

It seems we're in CPS and NNS season....

Check your CPS and/or NNS, sre fire bet that one of these is the culprit.

 

Check your terminals.

Change of seasons always cause troubles.

Also inspect your cables.
Corrosion on the terminals can travel UNDER the insulation of cable.

ALSO: Crawl under and check the connections to the starter. If they are loose they can allow dirty and debris in and keep the electricity from flowing.

NOTE: May want to disconnect the POS lead BEFORE messing with the cables/wires at the starter.
