starting issue with the shifter
i have a 98 xj and it's automatic. sometimes when I get in it to start it it does nothing at all but when I shift it all the way down and slam it back into park it'll start.

Here is a write up on how to clean the NSS. That is what is causing your starting problem. It only took me about an hour to remove it, clean it and put it back in.
