I have a 1999 XJ with the 4.0. It has somewhat of a starting issue. Once it starts is runs perfectly fine.

It seems as if when the jeep sits for a while(half hour at least) there is no pressure in the fuel lines any more and the jeep cranks like 15-20 times before firing up. If it was running and I turn it off, and turn it back on in about 3-5 minutes, the fuel rail still has pressure and fires right up. It has been doing this for a while and have been trying to figure it out. Any ideas or information would be greatly helpful.

Hi Nate:
I have the same problem. It's pretty common. Do a search in this forum for fuel pressure leak or hard starting and you should find a good fix, complete with step-by-step instructions. I ordered the recommended S.U.R. check valve on ebay. Just waiting for it to get here.

Thanks for the imput!! I have been trying to figure this out for a while and even considered buying a whole new fuel pump assembly, which I will probably still do. But i will have to look into it here on the forum.

I received my S.U.R. check valve in yesterday's mail. VIOLA!!! Starting problem resolved! No more crankitty, crankitty, crankitty...... My Cherokee starts quickly every time. The only difference I had was that the fuel line from the tank was 1/4" rubber, so I had to run to the store for a couple of small hose clamps. Everything else was in the package and the work was fast and easy to do.
