I just put a new rear main seal in my jeep I figured while I had the oil pan down I went ahead and put a new oil pump and pick up in. To drop the oil pan I had to move the starter out of the way and mine has a lifetime warrenty and recently its been sounding weak so I figured while its out to take it back to pepboys and exchange it for a new one rather than putting a new one in in a month ot two. So I put it bqck together and I was gonna prime my oil pump with the starter bit its not grabbing the fly wheel. I tweeked it and pounded it and did all I van but it still wouldn't grab. The flywheel looks good with no broken teeth or visual damage to it. I took the starter out and exchanged it for anpther new one,I'm out working still and havemt gotten a vhance to put the new one in yet but if I continue to have this problem when I get home tonight what could it be?

Was the 1st new starter throwing the bendix out?

I would have made the store test the first new one.

Any idea why you are going through all these starters? do you drive like 75,000 miles a year or something?
