Did you ohm between the starter relay and the starter to see if you have a broken wire? I wouldn't think it is the computer. I don't think your start circuit runs through it but I am not 100 percent sure about this.

Ok according to my diagram there is either a bad 40amp fuse in the power distribution center under the hood, a bad starter relay or a broken wire.

Glad you were able to get it fixed without throwing anymore parts at it. These forums are a great way to share knowledge. Like they say nobody knows everything but everyone has something to offer. Now you just have to figure out why your defroster blew the fuse.

also referring to previous posts innvolving wiring difficulty, I am not sure if I have faulty wiring any where that would effect this, my 4x4 light does not work on my dash, as well as the lighting for the 4x4 controls, also the power window control switches only work from the driver controlls, just wondering if there is anything innvolving wiring i should check before replacing starter.

What does it do after it tries to crank? Does it click? Not do anything? You could turn your key to on and then go underneath of it and jumper the heavy 12v battery cable to the wire going to your starter solenoid. This would tell you more if it was the starter or not. What condition is your battery it? How are the connections on the battery?

Lights for the 4x4 might be out of just the switch. The problem with your power windows is just in the control switch. Specifically the window lock out switch. There is a write up on here about bypassing it so all the switches work again. You just wont be able to lock them out. Chances are it is not your wiring. Check the simple and most likely stuff first.

battery is less then a year old i replaced it last year, lights are bright as usual, radio and power windows also work normally tried to jump it wouldnt start. There is no clicking just one click when when i attempt to start it. I tried banging on the starter when i got under the car and that allowed it to crank a little and gave a quick whining noise but the engine didnt turn over at all. And is that the red wire you are referring to on the starter?

It sounds to me like it is your starter. Yes get your meter and measure if you get about 12.7 volts on the smaller wire on the starter and ground and someone goes to crank it over. If you have 12.7 volts there chances are it is the starter. Based on what you are saying though I would bet money its the starter.

so i hooked up the jumpers got nothing to the starter, dont have a volt meter on me at school, but I am assuming there is voltage getting to the starter because the corresponding positive jumper was getting spark before i connected to the battery. I guess go with a new starter from here ?
