Starter wiring
96 4.0L in a 00. I have the 00 wiring for the battery/starter/alternator.
What wires go where? Ill start from the alternator side of loom move to the split off of the loom and to the battery side of the loom.
On the end of the loom near the alternator there is a thicker black wire. Im assuming this goes to the post on the block near the alternator. There is also a plug near here with a single blue wire.
In the split part of the loom is a thick red wire (starter?) and a single pin plug with a brown wire.
On the battery side there is the red batt post clamp that leads to the afore mentioned red wire and also has another thick red wire off of it. The negative battery post has a black wire as well.
Then there is a thick green wire and a 4 pin plug with blue two green and a brown wire. There is also a black wire that i believe is connected to the black wire by the alternator.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for no pictures. I did however figure out most of the wiring. For other interested, the 4 wire plug connects to another plug near the battery box. The red wire goes to the fuse box behind the battery and starter. Green wire also goes here.
So im assuming the 2000 cherokee starter had a plug on the solenoid that was meant for the brown wire. I put an eyelet end on this so it can be bolted to the 96 starter solenoid.
There is a single wire plug coming from the water pump? (passenger side top/front of engine), Im guessing the blue wire from the harness goes to that?

I'm curious about that blue wire. I think it's your oil pressure sender. Even more curious about a wires coming out of a water pump

Oil pressure sensor is behind the cam sensor correct? Thought I found the connector for that already. Plug from the water pump is routed around it, not necessarily from it I guess. ill have to look tomorrow and see where else it may be coming from. If I knew where the blue wire went from the harness for the battert/starter that might help. has a grey plug.

The harness for the oil pressure and cam sensor and a couple of grounds is separate from the battery harness. The battery harness is only for power distribution starting and charging.

Wayward thanks for the help! The 00 harness does not have the simple alternator hook up like you shown, the 96 did. The grounds that went behind the coil still bolt to the same spot, just no coil there on the 00. That is the blue wire i was talking about, however, there is still the mystery of the plug at the water pump. I'm thinking ground as it bolts to the water pump and disappears behind the pulley - it splits from one thicker wire to two smaller wires.
