So I have a problem with my 2000 jeep cherokee. When I would try to start the jeep I would turn the key and you would hear the starter engage, but not turn. After holding the key about 5 seconds it would start the motor. Just recently it didn't even engage so I went out and bought a new starter and put it in. Nothing. So I realized that the Starter Fuse blew. So I replaced that and it blew again after 6 starts. So I replaced it again, and again after 3 starts it blew. As of right now I threw a 30A fuse in there so I can get it back home. Even with the 30A fuse the starter still seems like sometimes the motor just doesn't want to turn over. Does anyone have any suggestions or anything? Thanks!

Battery terminals, and the inside of the cable clamp can get a thin crust of oxidization. Funny, they can look really good, but aren't. I wouldn't spend any time or money trying to figure it out without first having SHINY, CLEAN pretty, bare lead. I use the blade of my pocket knife to gently shave the inside of the clamp. Those "bottle-brush" type wire brushes may or may not cut it.
That's a start...How and if the ASD relay provides power to the starter relay is a bit over my head. I might take a good look at the wiring, check for anything rubbing or out of place. My relay is directly behind the battery on my 90, but I think yours is different. If the small, (probably green) wire from your starter to the relay is grounding, that might blow the fuse. That's all I got, Good luck!
