Default Start up when warm

Hello all, how is everyone? I am new to the site and recently bought an XJ. I am having 1 little gremlin that I can't seem to figure out . After I drive it around for a little bit and shut it off and let it sit for about 5-20 min it cranks then it hits a spot like the battery is dead then it starts. I have replace the starter, starter relay, 710cca battery, both battery cables, cleaned the grounds and crank position sensor. It's an 1987 jeep cherokee 4x4 5spd manual (Peugot tranny). Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How long is the crank time when it seems like the battery is dead? Have you had the Alternator checked to make sure it's charging properly? It's hard to say with limited info but you may be pulling the battery down while driving and if the Alternator isn't putting out enough juice it may not be charging the battery back up causing weak spark and not enough cranking amps. Batteries will recover a bit after being pulled down a bit and this might be why it finally does start. The recovery of the battery will be better with a new battery then what you would see with an old battery. Start it up and remove the battery cables if the alternator is good it should stay running but put a load on it while doing this, turn the head lights on, radio, heater fan. If it dies or struggles the Alternator is bad. A video of the crank time and the start would be good to see as well.

I had the charging system and starter checked out they said everything was fine. It takes about 3-7 seconds. I did the battery cable you asked me to do and it stayed running just fine. Also fuel pump, filter and regulator have been replaced with NAPA parts.

Check out a few of these, they made my 89 run way better. Check your cap and rotor and plugs, maybe you're past due for a tune up.
