I have a D35 rear end in my 1985 4door. on the left side of the diff cover, I have the #'s 5085
( i was told I am suppost to have 10 digits, not 4)
on the right side I have the # 3 stamped into the housing.
does anyone know what the #'s mean? not sure what gears I have, tag gone, but I have a tired 2.5lt. 4 cyl.

IIRC those are just casting numbers. The important number is on the missing tag.
FWIW you can find your gear ratio by rotating a back tire one revolution and counting how many times the driveshaft turns.
