Exclamation Stalls while driving.

I have 95 Sport 4.0 L HO Automatic OBD1. My jeep will stall while driving. It doesn't stutter just flat stalls without warning. I can usually put it in N and it will start right back up... Sometime it will take a minute or two to fire but it always fires back up. Heck sometime it will stall and it will kick back on, on its own without doing anything.. Most of the time it does this I can smell gas. I have replaced the gas tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel injectors, idle sensor in the throttle body, rotor, cap, plug and wires. I just can't figure it out. CAN ANYBODY HELP???

The crankshaft position sensor is a primary suspect. It is a very common failure on the Jeep 4.0 engine.

Without the input signal from this sensor, you will not have spark, and you will not have fuel going TO the injectors (but you may have good fuel at the fuel rail).

They can be tested, but sometimes testing is inconclusive. If you do end up buying one, buy it directly from Jeep. No lack of issues with aftermarket crank sensors.

Default 4.0 JGC Stalling

Yes replacing the cps can be a PITA , but it doesn't have to be. I did mine today in under an hour. I have a 95 JGC. Jack up drivers side, you will need a uni, 12, and 4 in. ext, 7/16 socket. Crawl in from the front, locate 11 o'clock on the transmission. remove the bolt. pull sensor out, and and forward, then reverse the steps. It helps to have a head lamp.
