Default stalling: maybe idle control unit?

Hey guys, so my jeeps bein doing this wierd thing. It does it whenever its wet or sometimes after being offroaded (in water/mud), my thoughts are that water is connected to it somehow. Basically what happens is ill start it and it will start up but have no idle control and just die, thats wat usually happens. This occurs usually at least once if it has or is raining. Sometimes itll try to turn over so ill just give it gas and itll start up but if i let go of the gas it will stall, thats wat usually happens. And one time it was just like the startwe was spinning but got ZERO response from the engine. (that was after washing it... with WATER!)

Soooo im thinking water is the cause and the effect is a broken "idle control" thingie... so what is this called an idle control valve? idle control unit? something in the throttle body maybe? I dont believe it is fuel related although that may be how it sounds...

Idle control motor. It is actually a little electric motor that controls the needle valve looking apparatus that opens and closes the idle air circuit on the throttle body. I think it works the same on later models as it does on Renix era Jeeps. I can give you a link to the Renix stuff but don't really know if they are a lot different on yours. Never messed with one that new. Newest one I have ever worked on was a 96 and didn't mess with any engine related stuff on that one. PM me if you want the Renix link.

We Renix guys call this the Throttle Position Sensor or TPS. You must cover it when washing your vehicle not a bad idea to wrap it up in electric tape also just to help protect it. I just got done fixing my problem that was just like yours. Easy fix but I recceomend picking up a new one at a JY just to have spare.

Try this link for your TPS since they are on all models. Thanks Kyle for the correction.
