Ok so here's the problem. After driving for 20 or 30 min I get a slight stuttering or missing. Not all the time. Sometimes a couple of times in a min. other times once every 5 min. Never does it when it's cold. Seems like the whole engine compartment has to be warm before it will do it. Took off throttle body and cleaned it. Replaced the TPS ( 280,000 miles on it) and cleaned IAC. CPS was replaced a couple of months ago when this first started happening. No difference. Injectors have about 10,000 miles on them. same with fuel pump. Any thoughts ?

 

Maybe cam sensor. Mine does the same thing, but it is only on the high way, and once every 10 min or so.

 

Yea that sounds familiar. I'm guessing that it's the cam sensor. It does have 280,000 miles on it so it's probably do for replacement anyway.

 

So I called napa and looked on-line as well but apparently there is no cam sensor listed for my xj. So any other ideas ? O2 sensor was replaced a month ago also.

 

Fixed it. The part is called distributor pick up. Replaced cap and rotor for good measure.
