I have a 96 cherokee and I have a squeal coming from the front of my jeep. It only does it when Im going over 25mph and around 1500 rpms. When I let off the gas it goes away?? It had a noise about 2 weeks ago and my alternator went out. I replaced it and thought that was my issue. I was wrong the noise is still there! What do you think it is? Im stumped!
Thanks!
Thanks!
i just got rid of squealing from my 91 cherokee. it took me forever to figure out what it was. it started after my belt broke and replacing of the alternator. try checking the p/s pulley or if the belt is off just a hair. my p/s pulley was just a tick too far in and the belt was just slightly rubbing on a bolt that connected the bracket to water pump. i figured this out after replacing the alternator, belt, idler pulley, p/s pulley and water pump. im not sure if the 96 has the same setup or not.

Thanks for the input! Im thinkin it could be my front driveshaft u joints! I was driving slow with my head hanging out the window and the loud squeal seems to be coming from the center. I will take it out and check it out!
