sputtering with the smell of burning mud

Default sputtering with the smell of burning mud

after i go mudding or my engine gets a little over 210 it starts sputtering through all gears and then it starts smelling like burning mud...any suggestions on what it might be..im kinda stumped cuz when it goes away the jeep is fine.oh its a 95 xj 4.0ho

maybe you have a crack somewhere and mud is getting in there, then burning when the motor gets hot

does your radiator get caked?

and hows your filter look?

the radiator doesnt get too packed and the filters fine...if i had a crak somewhere where would it be not to disturb the engine but make the exhaust sound sputtery

if you have mud all over that motor and dries and stays on there it will hold the heat in. hav you checked your plug wires too make sure theyre not cracked? you can check at nite when runnin to see if there is a lightning show. and the mud on your exhuast from engine to tailpipe will cook and smell from the heat.

oh yea your ignition could be wet somewhere too, if it goes away after it dries.

thanks errybody i found out what it was..it was misfiring like a s.o.b..the gap of the spark plug was closed with carbon build up and it looked like dirt too
