Sputterin Under Acc.
Ok guys earlier today i drove out to the woods the jeep was fine i didnt hit any water/mud/etc. then all of a sudden she sputtered and died and left me stuck for about 2 hours......So i tapped on the fuel filter and she cranked right up she sputtered a bit but still ran ok i limped her home and changed the fuel filter thinking it was old/clogged.......After that she ran fine and then on my way over to my gf's house she started sputtering again.....When not in gear and revving she's fine now under WOT and at high rpm's she breaks up really bad but throws no codes or anything like that.......Does anybody have an idea what it could be?!?!!!

The pump is inside the tank but, when a fuel pump starts to go bad it will leave you stranded when warm and then it will start again after cooling. It was probably coincidense that you had waited just long enough and then after banging on the filter that it started up and ran for you.

Teal, there is a very easy way to rule out the fuel pump. Get a pressure gauge and plug it into the fuel rail test port. Start the Jeep. You should have 31 PSI. Anything less and the fuel pump is bad. period. If you have 31 PSI when you perform this check, nest pull the vacuum line off the fuel pressure regulator. The PSI will jump up to 38-39 or the fuel pressure regulator is bad. This is a really easy way to rule out two key items and it takes about 10 minutes.

You bleed the pressure off your fuel system at that test port on the fuel rail. Just push in on the little tit. It will spray for about 15-20 seconds then quit. After you have bled the pressure just swap the fuel filter out.
