spuddering engine
I just bought a 97 Cherokee xj a couple weeks ago. I bought it about an hour away from where I live. on the way back home I noticed while going around 55-60 mph up the inclines on the highway it would have a slight problem.
A couple days into driving it would spudder a bit and clear up, only a couple times in 2 weeks. sometimes when I let off gas it would almost stall and die. So I decided to replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, map sensor, iac sensor. I cranked the jeep afterwards and realized I forgot to hookup the wiring back into the IAC, I hooked the wires back up and It idled much more poorly.
So I decided to replace the upstream o2 sensor and after that it ran fine for about 3 days, only problem was it seemed to idle high when in park, I cant see the actual rpms bc I have the standard dash cluster that doesn't have the rpm gauge. I got up one morning and crunk it up to find out it had a hellacious idle, whether it's in gear or not. I put the old IAC back on and it ran fine, next morning it's back to giving me hell lol. I'm all out of ideas except maybe the fuel pressure isn't strong enough or maybe even a vacuum leak 🤷♂️. I'm stumped guys, any suggestions?

Welcome!
This is a technical question, so it belongs in Stock XJ Cherokee Tech. That's where we discuss troubleshooting problems. The Chat section is for general yakking about Cherokees.
I'll report your post and one of the mods will move it, so don't be surprised when that happens.
It's called a tachometer. Or "tach" for short.
Might just need to learn the new equipment. The computer has to relearn the tuning. IIRC, it needs about 50 miles of driving to do that.
You definitely need to check the fuel pressure, and a vacuum leak is a strong possibly.
