spit n sputter

Something bugging me , when I get out on the highway at bout 55 my 89 xjspitts n sputters lil bit ,but when I reach bout 65 it stops . Any ideas would be helpful 4.0 ,5spd

Mine does this too, 4.0 Automatic. It kind of jerks about/hesitates/sputters a bit until you get up over 65. Love to know what it is.

Hi . My 97' XJ 2.5 petrol does this . I remove the distributor cap and clean all the contact points inside and this helps alot . Once every 8 months or so is fine. Hope this helps

another thing to check wiring on cps wiring mine had gotton old and brittle and would touch the head every once and a while causeing similar prob
