94 Jeep larado, 4wd, 4.0, not a 4wd all the time tranny, automatic, 172,xxx no lift, all stock, no check engine lights 55 is all get.

There are a ton of issues with the jeep (death wobble, transmission problem, leaking windshield, muffler rusted through) but im address the one most important to me that might help the transmission.

The speedometer is erratically working on/off, bouncing up and down. I can sometimes give a love tap to the dash and it will pop on and start working when its stuck. Ive did some research on youtube and forums but haven't been able to find an definite answer. To give you more of a clear understanding, my transmission is also sluggish (ive changed the fluid and filter and still the same result) which makes me think this beast is going out soon...or it could be a sensor causing this. I dont really know dick about jeeps as this is my virgin lady but im no stranger to being covered in grease.

Parts i have in mind is vss, output speed sensor, speedo gear.
All input is welcome, im not going to get butt hurt. I found a thread about turning the vss around and getting the speedo to work but the thread was so old the picture is dead.
