This one is for the tech guru’s.
I am installing a Kenwood DMX-907S radio in my restored 2000 XJ. I chose it because it has wireless CarPlay which is something I very much want in my vehicle with the new “Hands Free” driving laws in Ohio. For wireless CarPlay to function, there is a speed sense wire (labeled s-sens) that need to be connected to the vehicles speed sense pulse wire.
Does a 2000 XJ even have this wire? My BlueTooth scanner can feed live speed and RPM date so I’m hopeful.
I have found a few OBDII Speed Pulse modules for this propose but they all state “Only works with OBDII 2007 and newer” vehicles. Does anyone know if this will work on a 2000 XJ?
Thanks in advance everyone.

Might be able to tap off the speedo sensor in the xfer case? Why does it need that? Seems like that's there to prevent you from using some features while the vehicle is moving?

Its purpose is more accurate navigation speeds/distances. I’m pretty sure OBDII in US made cars since 1996 is capable of getting a pulse out of. The manufacturers list the modules as 2007 and newer because Asian cars didn’t get on board with OBBDII till then.

Gotcha. The 2000 XJ does have a VSS sensor. You'd have to look at the factory service manual to figure out where to tap into it under the dash - most likely behind the cluster or digging it out of the harness going up there. I found a youtube showing that the VSS is no longer required, but sounds like to can augment the speed information.
