speaker/sub question
hey guys,
i was finally able to get new speakers in my 1999 cherokee, i went with 4 pioneer TS-A1374R speakers, 2 for the front and 2 for the rear roof.
now i was thinking about getting a subwoofer for more bass, what are your suggestions, for either a sub with built in amp/without built in amp,or even a bazooka box?
what kinda prices am i looking at?
thanks guys!!

Depends on what you're going for. I'm running two six by nines in the back, two six and a quarters in he front and then two ten inch mtx Jackhammers in a ported box. Tweeters help immensely with sound quality.

If you are looking at a powered sub, Kicker offer some good units.

If you want to install your own sub and separate amp there are a few companies making enclosures like this that mount on the right side of the cargo area. This is my personal preference and the sound will be a little better with a separate amp. Takes up less space. I would go this route, then Dynamat the inside and paint or wrap the outside to match my interior color.

If you go with a sub that is not made for the Jeep just make sure it is secured to something. Nothing more lame than a sub box that becomes a projectile when in some harsh off-road conditions.

If you have the $$$, get an J-Pod and put a good shallow depth 8" in it. If you take care and mount it correctly it will last a long time and perform like a champ. Mount your amp under your back seat where you bottle jack is supposed to go and you have easy access to that as well.

Or if you have even more $$$, get the Infinity Baselink. It is a great powered sub for the size cabin the XJ's have.
