Sound bar help
I've recently bought a 98 xj without the rear sound bar. I am needing g to redo the headliner at some point and was wondering how hard it will be to add a soundbar? Does it mount above or below the headliner? And should the speaker wires and dome light wire already be there or s h would I expect to have to run them. Thanks m in advance.

the wires from the speaker bar in my xj ran down the passenger side wall to the hump are where there was a plug in from the front of the vehicle coming back.

The earlier XJ soundbar was a seperate unit from the headliner. You should be able to easily add one of those. You'd probably still need to run the wires.

I added one to mine from pre 97, it mounts below the headliner and on top of the metal side rails above the windows. If you are pulling from a pull a part make sure to get the bracket that mounts to the rear of the roof to support the middle and light. I had to run my own wires.
So I am making guesses here but thinking if your '98 did not come with a sound bar it is an SE.
Lower end version.
And assuming they even made an SE in '98.
The sound bar is plastic and goes between the roof and the headliner in a '98.
Also the headliner is molded to accommodate the sound bar.
Got a picture of the headliner cause I wonder if they put a different one in if there was no soundbar in the Jeep.
Also going to assume that the wiring is not there.
And no idea what you need to do if it is not.
But sure you are not the first person to want to do this so betting there is some info out there.
Be easy enough to see any wiring that might be there once you pull the headliner.
