Default Someone help me please! New Jeep Owner

Someone that knows their Jeeps please help me!

I just bought a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport
4X4. Everytime I turn on the air the belts make this high squeeeeeel that is driving me crazy! but everytime I take to it the place I bought it (I have had it less than a month) it never does it for them and I think now they are thinking I am crazy. Any suggestions? Is the air conditioner dripping on the belts maybe???? I have no idea.

Thanks!!!

You can always email me at whereishe22@gmail.com

Check the belt for cracking or glazing. If it is cracked or looks shiny it is most likely due for a replacement.

I had the same problem, your Belt could be a little loose. I tightened my tensioner just a few turns and my squeel is gone.

The serpentine belt is either loose or it needs replacement.

If the belt is older, get it out of there and replace it with a Goodyear Gatorback belt. Best replacement option; they stretch very little and stay quieter than some other el-cheapo replacement belts.

Thank you all for the suggestions. One of you all were right. The belt just needed to be tightened. I took it by "Just Jeeps" and thats all they had to do. Haven't heard the annoying squeeeeeel all day! Thanks All!
