i have an 1989 Xj sport with power locks and windows. i am curious. if i have these options did jeep install the 100 amp alt to my xj? i went to go get it replaced and i dunno if i have the 60 or the 100amp.

from what i searched my alt ranged from 60-100 amp i'm plumb confused at this point.

I would also get the 100 amp way better for you in the long run...

Get the bigger alt. No harm will come to your electrical system. You will just pay a few more bucks to get it, and have a lot more amperage available to use when needed.

X2, just get the better one. Or if you want to swap in a ZJ alternator 136A here is a writeup. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f51/zj...nix-xj-109847/

ok here is the main reason i asked. Knowing i can install a zj alt.

if i have the 60 amp i want to go ahead and upgrade to the 100amp . why is because i am pulling more amps now with lights , also i am going ot be adding other equip as well that will be needing power too. my alt is acting taxed as it is. "i should have mentioned this". so if i already have a 100amp and its acting taxed i will go ahead with the zj alt. if i am running the 60amp well 40more should do me up. to charge a second bat and run a wench. wench on isolated batt.

BTW this write up is a tone better than the one i found. thank you. i may just go ahead and do this.

do you know what jeep ma have a smaller dia Main pulley to get my belt speed @ idle up? i will also be using the smaller Alt pulley too. I'd like to get as much over drive on the alt as i can. Too a extent. i rarely wind up over 4000 rpm even on the street.
