Default snapped shift linkage bolt on np231... why?

well i was going through some soft sand and we ended up stopping cause there was a Fix Or Repair Daily (FORD) that caught fire. well when i ended up taking back off for some reason the t-case disengaged and the bolt on the adjuster on the linkage had snapped.

the bolt thats on the other side of the part circled.

im going to replace it but my big question is why did it snap? my t-case has has always been working great and this just kinda came outta nowhere. thanks

jesus! after you replaced it did the t-case work fine? cause i think what happened to mine was instead of bending it, that bolt snapped.

Unless there is something wrong with the transfer case about the only thing I can think of that would make the rod bend or the bolt break would be that you had the body flexed so much that the case wouldn't shift. I've never seen it but I've heard of it happening.

there was minimal body flex as all 4 wheels were on the ground. if something was wrong with the t-case what would that be?
