I don't recommend trying to remove any of the emission equipment on your Jeep. You'll hurt the drive-ability by doing so IMO.
It's not like it is on other vehicles.

First off, it is illegal in any state to remove smog equip and is a forum no no to condone it. But with that said, all the equip on the 87 and up XJs needs to be hooked up to perform properly. If you are looking to enhance performance, cold air intake and headers with a good free flowing exhaust system and 19# mustang injectors will help a lot.

cool thanks for the info, yeah like i said im more so trying to see if there was anything to be done to awaken it. right now we have CAI and exhaust waiting to go on. he is looking into headers aswell. the next step after that are probably going to be 19# injectors.

Leave the emissions stuff alone, you will end up losing power if you remove any part of the system. The ECM will go into a limp mode and you will burn more fuel and lose horsepower. This aint the 70's and we're not running with crappy feed back carb systems anymore, fuel injection relies on all of those sensors in order to operate as designed, and as efficient as it can. I was looking at a smog printout from a 95 Cherokee in our fleet at work, the air coming out of the tail pipe was cleaner than the air going in with zeros across the board, and it has plenty of ***** when you put your foot into it.
