Default slow to throttle down

my 97, 2.5, manual trans cherokee sometimes when driving, let off the gas and push in the clutch or coming to a stop. it takes like a count of 5 until it throttles down. once i was at a light and it throttled up a bit (no tach) by itself, went to go and chugged like was getting backed up with fuel. did not stall and came right out of it. new TPS about 3 months ago. runs great otherwise. any ideas? thanks.

I would check the IAC valve and see if it is sticking. You might have the give the throttle body a good cleaning along with the IAC valve. I would also check the throttle cable and the throttle plate in the throttle body to see if they are binding up at all.

yeah the cable could need a little lubrication. not sure it would cause it to idle up like that though.
