Slow Gearshift
On my 96 XJ when pulling away, the transmission does not shift from 2 to 3 until I reach about 3000rpm. If I ease off on the gas it changes up a bit sooner. All other gear changes are fine and the kickdown works OK
This is consistent and always changes up at around 3000-3500rpm
My 93 XJ had a transmission Power/Comfort switch, which this one doesn't have. Could this explain why the upshift is a bit slow? Is it just that I got used to driving the old truck in 'Comfort' mode?
The transmission fluid was change about two weeks ago and it made no difference.

General, the TPS also sends signals through the ECU to the transmission which locks and unlocks the torque converter. That is probably what you are experiencing. It mimics the upshift/downshift feel and RPM changes.
On a 96 you can just buy a new one and replace the old one.

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem was solved by backing off the adjustment on the Transmission Throttle Valve Cable.

Glad you got it fixed. You are always welcome for advice on CF and come back often. If you get a chance some pictures of the places around you would be of interest to the other members and myself. Just the countryside and trails would be just perfect.
Thanks General.
