Skid plate bolts
Just wondering if anyone knows the size and thread of the bolt used for a front skid plate on an XJ? There are threaded holes in the frame and i don't even know whether to look in imperial or metric or anything so any advice would be appreciated.

I can't tell you the exact size or thread pitch, but they are the same ones used to hold the bumpers on. Just pull a bolt from either the front or rear bumper to body mounts and take a trip to the hardware store.

When you get the bolts make sure spray some PB Blaster in the holes. Before mounting the skid plate run a bolt into each hole a little and take it back out, repeat this process several times to clean the threads. They get clogged with dirt and corrosion over the years. You don't want to get them in half way and have one seize up and snap.

That's where I got my bolts to install mine, for the very short ime that it was on. I took them off of the parts Jeep I had. I took it back off afgter only a few days because with my lift the steering was making contact with it and causing it to bind up. Not a good feeling to have the steering lock up because it is hung on a darn skid plate. Plus at a certain heigth it is basically useless.
