Default Side step suggestions?

I need to get side steps, my roof rack is a little too high for getting my bikes on and off it. I was wondering if anyone had any cheap suggestions and pics. Quadratec has these rugged ridge steps http://www.quadratec.com/products/71203_820_07.htm for $189. but no picture of them on a xj and no customer reviews.

Thumbs down

You ever think of just putting a hitch on the back and use that as a step?

agreed.

unless you go with rock rails or nerf bars, it's a bad idea.

"side steps" usually mean aluminum steps. they actually CAUSE rust, because of the aluminum to steel bond promoting corrosion, and the fact that it's harder to get underneath to clean up the floors.

how would a rear hitch help? id like to see some one put a bike on a roof rack from behind the car. Standing in the door sills was ok when I had factory roof rack but my new one is atleast 3 or 4 inches higher. Its too hard to try to get the bike in the rack and hold my balance in the door sill. Ill probably just get a step stool at walmart or something I guess.

I saw the site and I'm also interested, I emailed the company with inquiries, so far no reply yet. The least they could do is to validate their product with a full product catalog like description, material, model-years fits and finally a picture of the actual product on a vehicle like the XJ.

I was planning on buying them Side Steps initially and dual layer them with a fitting Step Plate to prevent somewhat atleast some scratches while the steps are new. Wanted a pair of side step and get those step plate for the back mounting.

Also, I have considered Nerf Bars as well.
