Default Side Panels

Does anybody know where I can find the lower plastic "door-ding" side panels on the front/back doors of a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport? Mine have got REALLY faded and looks like crap. It's either get new ones or just take 'em off. Anybody got any ideas?

I found them somewhere, and if youd like I can try to find the link, but they were pretty expensive. Like $30-$80 per piece. The little front quarter panel one was like $28 and the front doors were like $80. Rear doors were like $60. Something like that. I wanted to replace all of mine, plus the bumper caps which were also up there in price (times 4 of them) and it was outrageous. Im going to take mine off and just clean them and paint them. A can or two of paint/primer and they should last for a while. Some were factory painted to match the vehicle so there is a way to paint them and have it last. Im going to use the fusion plastic paint and see how that works. Let me know if you want me to look for that link.

Get some Kiwi Leather Scuff Cover (shoe dye) and re-black them. For a few $ your plactic will look like new. Clean the plastic good before starting. I like soapy water, towel/air dry then wipe with isopropanol alcohol before applying the shoe dye. It might take 2-3 coats to get it looking good but it works great.

Or just tape them off while they're still on the Jeep and spray paint black again. I've also heard a heat gun can make 'em black again too. I personally recommend taking them off. It's a bit of work to get all the tape off and then remove the dirt thats left behind. Turtle Wax makes a bug and tar remover that helped a ton. The end product is a bit cleaner looking in my opinion. I did it to mine and am in the process of doing it to the second jeep we just got.

My last XJ I just rattle canned them with Krylon for plastics, did them and the fenders, lasted forever.

Take a heat gun and and start on a side piece until it turns black and work your way around it until it is all black. I did mine about a month ago and they are still black, not sure how long they will last but it only took about 45 minutes to do all of them including end caps.
