Shimmy...can't figure it out
I have a 92 Cherokee that has a 2" budget lift on it. THe problem I have is that we had a death wobble, but after replacing all the shocks (they were really really bad) and the steering stabilizer it has pretty much gone away. THe issue is that when I am between 50 and about 62 I get a vibration that I can feel in the floor as well as the steering wheel. The other thing is that it doesn't always do it, but probably 8 out of 10 times. Had an alignment done as well as had all 4 tires balanced. I work at a jeep dealership and had the master tech check the suspension and drivetrain with me and didn't find anything out of the ordinary. Don't know what else to check. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

if its comming from the passenger side wheel try replacing the swaybar bushings, and before i get flamed on this.. the sway bar does more than help with not rolling over. it fixed mine.

no it doesn't do anything until I hit that 50 mph mark. It drives perfect until then... I have had it to 78 mph on the internet and it is fine. Like i said it is only during the 50 to 61 mph.

it is mostly out of the passenger side (at least it feels that way). I also noticed that the sway bar link on the passenger side appears to be bent a little bit where it attaches to the sway bar. i will try that this weekend. thanks

ya, i just replaced all my bushings and a link, makesure when you tighten the link down that it squesses both the bushings or it will still do it while turning at speed.

ok, so today I fixed my rear main leak (YAY!) and I also replaced all the bushings on the sway bar as well as replaced both sway bar end links. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to have helped my shimmy problem. Again, it is intermittent and generally only between 50 and 62mph. Any other thoughts? We again checked everything in the suspension and noticed that the hub on the passenger side had a little bit of play in it. Could that be my problem, and if so why wouldn't it do it all the time?
