Hey guys,
So i recently put an ax15 into my 90 cherokee, a swap from the aw4.
from first to second is fine, but 2 to 3 it grinds a little unless i let it ''spool down'' some, then it does fine, my question is, is it maybe a bad syncro?

also, for oil for the tranny itself, im running about 3.5qts of 10w30 full synth, is that ok?

I figured as much. It doesn't grind bad, just a little bit of a jump right before it fully seats into the gear. What about the amount of oil in it?

Fill with oil until it reaches the Height of fill hole(Untill it runs out). Thats the correct fill level. Of course, make sure youre on Level ground.

And, 10w-30 Synthetic(I choose Castrol Syntec for this application) is the Correct Oil for the AX-15, superceded by the factory oil recommendation of 75w-90 gear oil sometime in 1997, I believe. Its Crazy to think that 10w-30 motor oil is very close to 75w-90 gear oil in actual Viscosity(Kinematic Viscosity). Motor oil dosent have the harmful Sulphur/Phospherous that gear oils have, which damages the AX15(and AX5) Brass syncros.
