Shift lever nut appears broken off

No luck, mine is very different from the images in your posts, my adjuster clamp is a complete coupling/circle like thing that goes around the whole cable, heres a lousy picture but its the best I could get.

lol yeah I guess...well Im drawing a complete blank on what to do about it, I have to disconnect it in order to adjust it...theres no buttons or nothing but I cant find any links with the same style as mine...oh bummer...I guess Ill just stop for now

pop the end off where i told you eariler then squeeze were the two arrows point to each other then slide cable out of the bracket and look at the other side its there they only make one cable its there

Ok thanks, I did manage to get it disconnected from the shift lever, just to make the repair I was most concerned about, hopefully I can try that soon. Thanks a whole lot for the help...this forum has been such a blessing!
