Default Shell Rotella T5...did I screw up? help please.

Im worried I pulled a major boneheaded move yesterday....ive seen everyone sing the praises of Shell Rotella T5 and T6 on here and read a few really informative articles as to why its the best choice for a 4.0. My 97 xj was due for an oil change so I grabbed 6 quarts of T5 and a mopar oil filter. Drain the old....pour in the new...just when im pouring in the last quart....I notice the bottle says heavy duty diesel oil....embarrassed and angered I now actually read the bottle. I got Rotella T5 for diesel engines. I did some looking online of all the auto parts places locally and walmart. It seems on every website.....AutoZone...advanced auto parts...oriellys...and walmart. They only carry Rotella T5 and T6 for diesel engines. None of them show a Rotella T5 or T6 for gasoline engines. So i began to wonder...are all the guys on here praising Rotella T5 and T6 running diesel oil in their xjs? Or do my local parts stores just suck? Lil help please. I have no cash to drain and refill til tomorrow....and I definitely cant afford to hurt the 4.0

It will be fine allot of guys are running diesel oil in their xjs. The higher zinc content helps the older motors.

You're fine. Rotella is designed for diesel engines, but it is fine for gasoline engines. The reason so many people like t on here, is because of the additives in it. I use the t6 myself, and my engine loves it!

Everything you'd ever want to know about the stuff, and why its so good for the 4.0 engines.

Ok....thanks. I read that article before. Its what made me decide to ditch the royal purple and switch to the rotella for my xj. I was just concerned with it being diesel oil. I cant afford to hurt my 4.0 but I also didnt realize all you guys were running diesel oil in your xjs. I guess I can relax a bit and see how my xj reacts compared to the royal purple. Thanks for the info....now that I know its safe....im gonna go for a ride :-)

It is actually dual-rated for gas and diesel engines.

^^^

If you read BOTH sides of the jug you'll see it's certified by the API for use in gasoline engines requiring API SM or earlier. It's called "mixed fleet oil"

Put a few miles on the jeep today. Gotta say so far im pleased. Oil pressure is up a bit....seems to idle smoother too. Its way cheaper than royal purple also....so far im really pleased.
