Default shackles vs lift blocks

For a tiny lift of only two inches.

A buddy with a 94 cherokee put a 2" spacer lift on hif truck but used blocks on the back instead os shackles. I asked him why and he said he didn,t want the shackles spreading and letting his leaf springs wear out or inverting. Sounds plausible to me but so does axle wrap from blocks.

If you guys were only putting a 2" lift on, what would you use and why? Or what did you use and why?

Just want to go the safest route until I decide to go higher. (I still am going to have to deal with my wife mocking me since her liberty is lifted 2.5" with 265/70/16 wheels so its way taller. My only recourse at the moment is at least mine does not need the engine replaced but hers is getting it new engine soon so I need a new retort soon)

Sorry for any spelling or punctuation issues, the is from my cliq

dude this is such a sore subject here. lift blocks will all but get you lynched. go with AAL or new spring packs.

I don,t know what aal is and don,t see the point of new spring pcks when mine are fine. I live in south texas where the tallest hill is the overpass and 4x4ing is driving onto someone,s unpaved driveway, so I don,t need to replace anything until I really start lifting.

aal stands for "add a leaf" it attaches to your leaf pack already to give you some lift.

no biggie, aal is add a leaf. a single "helper spring that goes under you existing pack. some say good some say bad. if your not ready to lift it, then no worries. when you are ready, there are so many kits available you'll go nuts trying to decide what will best fit your needs.

Ohhhhhhh!!!! Like a helper spring from autozone that adds some more strength to your current leafs and returns their curvature, ok. I get it now. I use those on soft riding half ton pick ups because I like a stiffer ride.

Good idea. I might grab some this week and use those then. Theya re cheap and I like how they ride

I agree go with the bastard pack...I went pricey and got 2" HD Old Man Emu for my rear springs and went grand cherokee springs and spacers in the front. the ride is awesome even thought i cheaped out on shocks and got 7000 hydros .. this is what happened to mine and it had "Lift" shackles on it when I got it. I melted those things with the torch and threw em in the scrap heap where they belong.

Default Shackles

I know its not the best idea and they arnt even true shackles but i run a 3.5" on stock springs in the rear with shackles. Have not had any major problems. They allow a lot o flex.

u used the s10 main leaf with the eyelets cut off and under the XJ main leaf and above the rest of the XJ leafs... the way u said it may lead him to think you bolted in the S10 leaf and rolled... theres more to it then that...
