Default setting things straight

so i have a 1989 cherokee "pioneer" with a 4.0l in it that is having some rough idle issues. so i called up my local 4x4 shop and they said this year didnt even come in a 4.0... so any info on this would be great! i am new to the 4x4 scene

hmm the guy seemed to be in quite a rush so maybe he wasnt really paying attention. but i have changed air filter, plugs and wires and still am getting a rough idle.. hmmm? do we have check engine lights manz?

no 87 thru 90 are renix rea jeeps there is no check engine light or a way of accessing trouble codes by rough idle do you mean a stutter or idle goes up and down

well when starting it just is very hesitant... to a point where it almost dies just putting it into gear from park.. just no *****.. but its only like that sometimes

check cap and rotor also? try fuel filter? check fuel pressure?

Theres a write up on here on how to clean ur iac. Are u throwing an codes? have u tryed runnin seafoam throgh it

My wife also has one of the nonexistent 89 pioneer 4.0s. Wouldn't take anything to that shop!!

yeah what the heck. he sounded so sure of himself too! that kinda bugs me... specially cause its the only 4x4 shop in town!! haha ill try giving my iac a deep cleaning tomorrow in my auto tech class. any other suggestions? im kinda lookin in the dark without my precious obd2 (no codes!)

hey my jeep seems to also be running pretty hot for even just around the town driving... could these two problems be some how linked?
