Question Serpentine belt for a Jeep 4.0 motor

I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee that may have had the motor changed. The problem is that I need the serpentine belt that runs the motor accessories and different year Jeep 4.0 motors use different belts. How can you tell what year the motor is or what belts do different inline 6 motors take?

Take in old one and match it up.

The current plan is to get one ordered at a parts store, take the old belt along, and match them up before I put my money down. But it is a fair drive from where I live and it would be a lot nicer to get the right belt first. Plus the store people usually want to find it in their book, rather than fuss around trying to match sizes. And they may not carry the right size in stock.

There are some numbers stamped on the block between cyl 2 and 3 on a machined tab. The first number to the left is the last digit of the year the motor was built.

Default Serpentine Belt

Thanks for the assist. Going by the belt pattern, apparently the motor is a '99 after all. If it can be done without undue effort I will check the motor block also. Also, I took some pictures of the motor before I pulled the belt off, as you will see if I get the upload right.
