Morning all:

On an 87 4.0, what is the sensor that is below the coolant temperature senor and in front of the O2 sensor on the driver side of the engine?

Camera is out or I'd send a picture.

Thanks in advance,

Jan

Like the ckp on the bellhousing? If that isn't it is it, is it a sensor on engine, intake or what?

One sensor is higher on the engine and more toward the front. It is also behind the engine mount. The lower sensor is to the right (toward the rear) of the engine mount.

The O2 sensor wires are bundled in the protective covering with the other two sensors.

These are on the driver's side. I don't think it is the CPS.

I did not see it on that site. It looks like it is below and to the right of the CTS.

I don't think it is the CPS. It looks like the O2 and CTS in shape, and it is between them, but lower.

I think it may be the sensor for the oil pan. It looks like it is between the block and the oil pan.

Is that the rough location for the oil sensor?

Just a question, are you sure its a sensor, Im pretty sure theres a clamp right there that uses an oil pan bolt to hold it. This kind of looks like with the right amount of mud on it could be mistook for a sensor?

The wire that goes to the o2 sensor goes through this clamp. I forgot to mention that.

Just crawled under to verify. It is a sensor with a waterproof connection. The wire connection to the O2 sensor is beside it and the wire connection to the CTS is slightly above it. All three sensor wires are routed through the clamp on the bolt at the front of the block.

The sensor is installed at the seam between the block and the oil pan, and it is about centered on the engine.
