I have decided to sell our Jeep since it gets very little use and my wife's grandfather, who gave us the Jeep, needs the money to pay for his alzheimers care. Now the question is what to list it for on craigslist. I have replaced most brake components, exhaust manifold, timing chain, speakers, radio and various miscellaneous items like bulbs and trunk lift supports. The issues that still remain are no A/C which is most likely the evaporator, old tires and worn suspension components. The body and interior are in good condition with only minor surface rust since it's always been in Florida. Any help with the pricing would be greatly appreciated. Should also not it has 193K miles.
Being that it it 2WD, it will hurt the value as compared to a 4WD. However, from what I can see in the pictures, it looks to be in decent shape. It's not rusted out, seems like it was well taken care of. The worn suspension components are a bit of a problem, but most Jeep guys will have no problem replacing them themselves. They may also want to convert it to 4WD.
Generally speaking, I would usually start high and come down a little bit as needed. If it were me, I would start at $4000.00 and see what kind of offers you get. It's better than starting at $2000.00 and getting kicked down further.
Are you sure that you want to sell it? Finding another Jeep as nice as that will be nearly impossible in the future. (Just saying, as a guy who regrets selling cars previously.)

Thanks for the input. We have a van currently and use that 95% of the time because of the Jeep suspension and very old tires. I work from home so we rarely ever need two vehicles. We would also prefer to get a used truck at some point which will have more utility than the Jeep.
I agree with Red - that XJ looks to be in very nice condition and stock XJ's in good condition are increasingly hard to find.
If you're as determined to sell as it sounds, then you can always start by checking Craigslist or other local resources where people privately sell used vehicles and see what the comparable prices are on comparable vehicles. The 2wd thing will definitely drop the value in a general sense, but in your area (being the lack of substantial snowfall) it might not be as big a problem as it would be up here in the snow belt. You could phrase it as "more fuel efficient" rather than "no 4wd" sort of thing.
Good luck - I'm sure you'll make someone very happy to have a stock XJ in decent condition!
