i have a 93 cherokee, i bought a 00 transmission for my 4wd swap. i used all the 00 sensors just rewired them to work with my old clips, well besides the one thats bolts to the passenger side of the trans i use my old one. well anyways, i go to test it out and it feels like it shifts right out of 1st to 3 or over drive not sure then when i stock its doesnt shift back down. anyways i unpluged the sensor that goes into the tailcone which was a 3 wire and now its a 5 or 6 wire i cant remember but now i have to manualy shift from 1st to over drive
now i have two questins, do i need a newer tcu for it to work right and is there a way i can wire it so i can get second gear instead of going 1st to 3rd?

Interesting. 2000 is OBD II with an ECM integrated TCU. Early 90 was OBD I with a separate TCU. NSS signals might be getting jumbled, as well as other signals.
you have to use all orignal sensors. the obd II sensors will not work. You also have to look at the tone ring in the tail housing to see if it is the same. If you hook up a scanner to the truck you should be able to see if the output sensor is working. my guess is no, the tcu has no idea how fast its going. is the check engine light on?
