OP.
I still can't figure how u can not get the correct part.
I went back online to the site I gave u, put the part in the basket, has it in inventory, and was ready to ship.
None of the sites where others get the part has the part available to you?
Get someone to help you order the part, install & see how it runs then.

The ones listed there dont have the little guides like his. looks like his is the updated plug rectangular not oval. Hence the sanding he refers too...http://www.ebay.com/itm/56027865AB-Crankshaft-Position-Sensor-Jeep-Wrangler-Cherokee-Dodge-97-06-PC169-/111436895267?hash=item19f2281423&vxp=mtr

Because it either doesn't have the right connector or says it doesn't fit a 96.

That's late production '97 and up.

You need a late production '96/early production '97. It has a long pigtail.

Early production '96's had round pins. Late production '96's had flat pins (OBD II).

Quote: I tried a Duralast CPS as a last ditch effort, and like I thought, it's junk. It started up, drove it to the gas station. Started it up at the gas station, started acting up. I'm pretty much done with this Jeep. I've put too much effort into it the last year. Dealer won't help me anymore, can't find the right part I need online, and all local shops have junk sensors.
It can be extra tough if there is more than one problem, or you are focused on, (the wrong), intermittent problem.

These guys know plenty more than me. What's "acting up?" I might try rapping on my TPS with something, see if it changes. Put a meter on the sensor ground, (or the 5v feed) circuit and giggle wires and see if something changes.

Again, these guys know way better than me...wouldn't a CPS code be the 5V feed? (not sure it "throws" a code when it's mal functioning....

freegdr, I really appreciate your patience. So if I were to order:

Amazon.com: Standard Motor Products PC308 Crankshaft Sensor: Automotive Amazon.com: Standard Motor Products PC308 Crankshaft Sensor: Automotive

What degree of certainty do you have that it will work?

OR this one:

http://www.factorychryslerparts.com/...8281273AA.html

I'm just wary of ordering it online and it not working and having to go through online returns. Also, which would you recommend me to order if you do believe they will work. Naturally I'd prefer to order the mopar one from the second link, so if you're confident that's the one, I'll order it on Monday.

The good news about going through all this is I can change a CPS in about 5 minutes now lol.

EDIT: This stock code 56027865 is the one the one the guy at NAPA gave me a while back and said his Jeep contact said is the one I'm looking for, and it also shows it on the second link as part of it. Looking like we might have found the one! And sorry to anyone I've pissed off by seeming stupid or not listening. I have more than I've ever had going on in my life right now and it's stressing me out immensely. Court dates, car accidents, and most of all, my beautiful jeep being down, just to name some of it.
