well i finally got the car to pass. i just started replacing what i could that had to do with emissions. spent just under $300 and did all the work myself.

this is what i replaces

- spark plugs
- wires
- distributor cap
- air filter
- o2 sensor
- catalytic converter

these are the numbers i got if you didnt see on the other thread i started cuz i was excited lol

Seriously, there are no "codes" for 87-90 renix, i'm sure cruiser54 will chime in on this. As for passing emissions, your on the right track, new O2 sensor, clean the MAP sensor. Any driving issues, missing etc? Catalytic Converter installed? If not Install one ASAP. when you go to have the test done, make sure its hot, don't drive straight there, drive at least 45mins-1hr before going.[/quoteRight obd 1 started in 1991 then you can scan for codes.

 

Yes those scanners are over priced.

 

It's pretty cool to see what the system's doing though.

 

Didn't you already have a new cat on there before you had your first emissions test?

 

nope. i hadnt done anything to it before i got it tested. the guy i bought it from didnt take to good care of it so i knew there was a lot i needed to do to it
