Default Screeching/noise

Hey, I own a 1998 Jeep Cherokee 4.0 litre. When I first bought it about a year ago, I noticed that occasionally there would be a screeching noise coming from the engine when I started it up. After a few seconds of drving, the noise would stop completely. It never affected the drive or the way it ran. It would increase in sound as I revved it up, leading me to think a belt, but if it was the belt, would it not make that noise all the time? As well, it would only happen during the summer, never winter-a.c. related? I'm pretty new to mechanics and don't want to start taking apart things if I don't have to.
