Default Schizophrenic signal lights -- '95 Cherokee

I've been having continued problems with my turn signal lights. The fuse is fine, and I've cleaned the contact points on the bulbs, which has resolved the issue in the past. My signal lights work sporadically. Sometimes they work perfectly, sometimes not at all, and sometimes they will flash only once, and I operate them by manually moving the lever up and down. They weren't working at all for a couple of weeks, then the other day while I was out they suddenly started working fine. Thanks in advance for any help.

Check to make sure the plug on the back of the switch is tight (6 or 7mm) if its tight, then most likely the switch itself

Sounds like the flasher relay to me. Mine used to flash a couple times and just stick on, left right and hazards all of them did the same thing. I work at Autozone and picked up a new flasher and i haven't had the problem since. Cost me like 15$ i think

Thanks for your responses. In snooping around about multi function switch I see a mention that the hazards work independently, which might indicate the multi function switch. My hazard lights do and have always worked just fine.
