Default Saggy leaf springs - bad?

Hi All,

I have some pretty saggy stock leaf springs. Right before I bought the XJ the PO put new rear shocks in. I eventually plan on lifting it, so I don't want to spend the money to replace stock leaf springs now, but I wonder if this can be a bad thing?

I was sort of in the same boat, except a never want to spend the money. Mine'r total crap on my 90. 300 miles from home I found myself with a trailer and a load...and it wasn't gonna fly. Napa had some air shocks for $75....Crappy ride but at least her headlights are not pointed skyward for her twilight years....(Plus it's sort of fun, airing them up and watching it rise).

Build a bastard pack. Kinda like adding a leaf, you don't need to remove the leaf eye bolts. You will only need a sacrificial leaf pack that is 2.5" wide (I bought s10 leafs on craigslist for $50), new center pins, maybe new leaf spring clamps, and maybe new u bolts

Easy ride it and don't do anything excessive. I had the "W" going on when I got mine. Drove it on the beach and miraculously it survived! Didn't get stuck and I was the only stock vehicle out there! Not recommended though.

Go ahead and get new leafs it will be worth it until you get that lift. It will let you take those train tracks as fast as you want without worrying about breaking your axle in half.

be sure to grab some pb blaster and use it amply and a couple days ahead of time.

Well mine aren't as bad as yours were Crab. I plan on doing a 3.5" RE Lift as soon as possible (which means a couple months or so). It's been driving just fine, plus I'm doing all highway driving at the moment, with a little city thrown in. I just want to make sure I'm good until I can get the lift ordered, and on.
