Saftey feature?
Alright so yesterday I pulled up to my friends house, and a few seconds later her mom hit the back of my jeep with her truck, it was really lightly like I could barely feel it and it didn't do damage, but when I put it into drive, it wouldn't move like it was in park. After I shifted back into park and then back into drive it would move, is that just something that happens when you get hit?

And on a side note, I was in a fender bender a few months back in my pontiac Grand Prix, and when I hit the person from the back, it wasn't very hard either (barely any damage) it wouldn't move till I put it in park, Then back into drive. So that's why I thought this was normal

If it was in park when it was hit it might have put the park pawl inside the transmission in a bind when it was bumped. I think I remember hearing about something like that before, but I am by no means a transmission tech.
