Default safe to use 4wd while manually shifted from underneath. snapped shift linkage

i snapped my shift linkage a bit ago somehow and i was wondering if its safe to shift it from underneath? i snapped the linkage going to the shifter inside. and also the pivot rod that goes from the side of the floor to the t-case is out of place, but the linkage going from the t-case to the trans is still in tact. thanks

you broke the shift linkage to the TC?

I think it would be fine to manually shift the TC into/out of 4wd from underneath..

If it has CAD (center Axle disconnect) remove the vacuum lines, or pull the front drive shaft.
Using 4WD on pavement is a bad thing.
Assuming you can't get it out of 4WD.

X2 It doesn't matter how it is shifted, it will work the same. Done it several times myself.

My shift linkage broke a while back, just crawl on under there and manually shift it. Make sure to put it back in 2wd and the part time light's off when you get back on the road. It's a pain but it works. Done it like 1000 times. Don't be afraid to pull hard on the shift linkage either

You can make a new shift linkage for like $30 from your local hardware store. It will never break either. Let me grab a picture for you
