everyone bashes rustys bc his **** breaks. end of story. my leaf spring bushings from his kit were toast in 6 months. even his 'HD' trackbar uses the same size end as the TRE unit. you break a piece of steering at speed and you're ****ed, end of story. its not worth risking your life even if he does replace it for free.

OKc i went to the links you gave .It said was for a 91 and up what is the difference Mine is a 90
The reson i want to replace the Rusty is because of the breaking. I respond to fires in this high speed cant afford for it to break. It tends to wander on the road to.

The Rugged Ridge setup should work for 84-01 XJ...the ZJ one note sure but BlueXJ and TrueBlue both run the ZJ on a 89 or 90 model RENIX erra XJ..

Here are my comments on the 4.5" Rusty's kit I have had for 4 years now.

1.) Front coils don't support S*** for weight.
2.) Rear leaf springs are too D*** stiff
3.) Track Bar tie rods are weak as S***.
4.) Their shipping is expensive as H***.
5.) Their degree shims are cheap ***** aluminum ones.
6.) The kit I received from them didn't sit level.

These are all B****** I have from dealing with their POS lift kit for 4 years. For $800 friggin dollars plus another friggin $150 for shipping, I expected a much better friggin product. :thumbdown::brickwall:

Let's get back on topic here. This is not a bash Rusty's thread. It's a thread asking about steering linkage options. So please stay on topic from here on out.

Okay, I purchased a Rusty's HD Trac bar like 2 years ago and installed it. It worked good for what I needed it for but it always rubbed against the trac bar bolt on the axle. I decided I would upgrade to a OTK setup and used the $10 inserts for the knuckles to put the tie rod on top and I got the Trac bar relocation brackets from Rusty's as well to move that out of the way. I ground part of the spring perches off to clear the tie rod. My issue now is everything seems to not bind until almost full steer when the tie rod hits the springs themselves. With Rusty's Full Kit you get the tie rod and drag link with the heim joints and you drill the knuckle to a straight hole. The tie rod setup I have has the regular tie rod ends. I think since I put the inserts in mine the inserts put the tie rod up like 1/4" and it's making the tie rod rub the spring. If that made any sense to anyone can someone suggest something useful to get full steer back? If I hadn't already purchased the HD tie rod I would have just bough the whole kit minus the heim joints and probably never had any issues but I'm pretty much peicing my kit together from different suppliers.

A lot of tie rod kits as well as OEM tie rods have a bend very close to the end. This allows them to clear the spring. That is probably your only solution.

I ran the Rusty's steering conversion for awhile. I sold my Jeep in September 2011 and never got around to installing these new tierod ends.

They are MOOG and fit the Rusty's steering conversion. I also have 1 new stock replacement tierod end from Rusty's.

I am selling everything for $150.00. That's about a $75.00 discount (not including shipping) for what I paid from Summit Racing in 2010.

You can see how much more beefy the MOOG units are compared to the ones that Rusty's uses. Also notice that the treaded portion of the tierod ends is also longer than the ones Rusty's supplies!

New jamb nuts also included...
